*Professional poker player Johannes Strassmann has been in the news for the last week as the German poker pro had gone missing after visiting Slovenia.Strassmann had done extremely well on the poker circuit and was known for playing high-stakes games and winning large hands.

German poker professional Johannes Strassmann, who went missing last week in Slovenia, was confirmed dead a few days ago after a DNA test. Strassmann was visiting some friends in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana and was reported missing on June 21.
The police tried their best to find him by carrying out out numerous operations in the country involving helicopters, search teams and search dogs. On Friday morning, police found a body in poor condition of the banks of the Ljubljanica River in Ljubljana and immediately ordered a DNA test.
The DNA test confirmed that it was the 29-year-old Johannes Strassmann’s body they had found. His cause of death was reported as accidental drowning. Duc Ngo, a friend of Strassmann, was with Strassmann’s family when the DNA test was confirmed. Below is his statement:
’dear friends,we are all endless sorry to confirm that our friend johannes strassmann is dead. the death time was saturday midnight. there was no indications of a violence impact. death cause is drowning. it was a terrible accident. johannes was not involved in an illegal poker game. he was just visiting some old friends here in ljubljana. everything was just fine until this accident.’
The poker player J.Strassmann was first discovered by HighstakesDB on the high stakes tables of PokerStars on Wednesday, December 15, 2010. Since then, a total of 3177 poker hands have been tracked. A DNA test performed by Slovenian authorities has confirmed that a body discovered in the Ljublianica River is that of 29 year old German poker pro Johannes Strassmann.
Strassmann was originally reported as missing on June 21.
According to PokerNews.com, which has maintained the lead on this tragic story, and has published the Slovenian police report, “criminal investigators [have] excluded a violent criminal offence. The laboratory tests of bodily fluids are still ongoing.”Strassmann Poker Death
